  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large cast iron skillet on medium heat, add the butter and brown sugar.

  2. Heat until melted and golden brown. Place the pineapple slices in the pan. Cut several slices in half to finish out the pattern along the edges of the pan. Place maraschino cherries in the center of each pineapple slice.

  3. Prepare the yellow cake mix and pour the batter into the iron skillet over the pineapple and maraschino cherries.

  4. Bake until done for about 30 minutes. Test with a toothpick to ensure proper doneness. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool for 10 minutes. Run a knife around the pan to loosen the cake. Invert the cake onto a serving plate.
