Ingredients
  • 4 pints mixed berries (for example strawberries, raspberries and blackberries), sliced or cut into bite- sized pieces
  • 1 lemon juiced
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp. cornstarch
  • 4 cups whipped cream Flavor with 1lemon, Sherry, whiskey or vanilla, if desired.
  • 1 pound cake cut into bite-sized chunks

Instructions
  1. Place the cut berries, lemon juice, sugar and cornstarch in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Assemble the trifle: in a pretty glass serving bowl, layer fruit and cake, then whipped cream in 2 inch bands. Repeat to the top of the bowl. Chill until ready to serve.
