RTF Thanksgiving Part 5 of 5: Happy Thanksgiving!
Our fifth and final chapter of the RoadTripFlavors-Style Thanksgiving Feast breaks a long-standing tradition in American kitchens. Green Bean Casserole has been a staple on Thanksgiving tables since it was created by home economists at The Campbell Soup Company in the 1950s. With ease and speed as the mission statement, the company chefs relied on pantry staples in those days: cream of mushroom soup and canned green beans. Add a can of French Fried Onion Bits and you have the dish.
Not to diss the long-standing tradition, our RTF Thanksgiving menu features three fresh vegetable dishes that let the vegetable-flavor shine. But those onion bits were certainly delicious. So we have developed a RTF-style alternative. Fresh onion slices are dipped in a seasoned dredging station and oven fried to crunchy bites of oniony flavor. They also go great with our Smoked Turkey and Homemade BBQ Sauce.
