The sentiments represented by the Statue of Liberty resonated with me as we viewed it from the Brooklyn Bridge. What a beautiful reminder of the kindness and opportunity America has extended to the disenfranchised. What a sad reminder as well that America has fallen short.
Oh, how we have missed our RoadTripFlavors travels over the past two years. Travel experiences promote understanding of people, cultures and cuisine. For our first airplane flight since the pandemic onset, we flew to our recently relocated daughter and family in New York. Already a savvy local tour guide, Marie, with her two kiddos in tow, showed us her temporary neighborhood in Brooklyn, the bridge views and highlights of lower Manhattan.
We walked more than seven miles that day. So, the real deal New York pizza from a wood-burning oven in Brooklyn was a welcomed fueling. We know that New York water, technique and treasured old ovens make New York pizza unique, but we think our RoadTripFlavors version is pretty fantastic too! Our California Wood-Fired Pizza requires some special equipment and ingredients, but when you love to cook like locals from other places, it’s totally worth the investment.
